I had a hard time taking a photo of this one. Thankfully, it tasted far better than it is photogenic! Layers of a chocolate cookie crust and a luscious chocolate ganache sandwich a creamy layer of dulce de leche…just fabulous and pretty easy to put together, in the end. I almost made my own dulce de leche, but found it in the “world food” aisle at the grocery store, where I expected it to be, and figured I’d take the easy way!
I don’t have much else to say so I’ll ask this: is there any food writing (I’m defining writing and text broadly here) that has been particularly provocative lately?
I’m teaching a freshman seminar on food writing genres next term. It’s a low stakes class that is only 1 unit, so nothing too in-depth. I already have Will Write for Food and we will read selections from there. I was also thinking about doing some restaurant reviews, particularly that Wells review of Per Se, and covering the recipe how-to videos, like Tasty. Just thought I’d put a call out to my community here!
