Oof, with cooking only once a month from this book, I didn’t realize I was 4 months behind in posting! I took the summer off–yeah, yeah, that’s the ticket! I really did cook, but haven’t had much inspiration to write here. I think I spent all my inspiration doing some good ol’ academic research writing.
Anywho, I’m really excited to shift our focus completely to Everyday Dorie as the recipes we’ve made thus far have had a pretty great effort-to-taste ratio.
The corn chowder is not very photogenic, but sure was tasty. It’s also quite filling: I thought I would serve it as a first course one weeknight and we were all too full for whatever main dish I’d prepared. Corn just came into season here, like yesterday, so I used some non-local grocery store corn when I made this a couple weeks ago. It was fine, but this recipe threw into high relief that seasonality is very different across the Northern hemisphere.
The green as spring soup was also not entirely photogenic, and was again entirely tasty. I also liked how much of the leftover greens I had in my fridge were used in the recipe.
Mushroom bacon galette? YUM.
Finally, those shrimp tacos WERE photogenic and I loved every piece of them.
